Notes

David tells me he views Jeremy as his co-producer but the way Jeremy tells it, he prefers a more clear separation of concerns. He doesn’t want or need to wear all the hats.

David’s the producer. He’s the engineer. David is in charge of content and arrangements and taste. Jeremy is in charge of sound, of capturing everything in high fidelity, mixing it for clarity and impact, and OK also for taste. For his superhuman ears, really.

But I understand David’s point of view as well. They’ve been collaborating now for years. They work beautifully together with seriousness, care, wit, and ease. They make sure it’s all fun and they make sure it’s all good (or, at least, perfectible).

The main thing you have to realize is that my songs have never sounded anywhere near this fine before, and that’s all down to Jeremy.
