Without Dan none of this would have ever happened. I have learned more about how to write a memorable song from Dan than I have from Robert, Elvis, Joni, Townes, or Bonnie. The years we spent playing together as the Reuben Kincaid inform most of these tracks, and our musical chemistry underlies critical tracks on this record, like the piano and voice foundation of “Down to the Mountain” and the angular piano chords anchoring “Saint Lucifer” to my ragged time signatures.
