I always knew who I wanted on guitar all over this record: Robert Wade. “I don’t just shred!” he once protested in mock resentment.
Bob helped me pick out my first guitar. He taught me chords and licks back before I could play anything. He played lead guitar in the Uncalled Four, for gods’ sake! He used to sit in with the Reuben Kincaid sometimes and we would all get blissed out.
He also added his basso profundo to some of the rock growls on this record and I think the only “studio banter” that made it through all the edits.
