Notes

I have been justifiably accused of liking too much the sound of my own voice but even for me, I knew, twelve songs in a row of my same unadulterated, reedy, slate-blue vocal was going to get wearing. I knew that we needed harmony vocals, backing vocals, and generally a wider range of timbres and, well, notes.

When I first got to Goody Sound, Jeremy and David were in the studio mixing a multipart harmony track for another project. This was when I first heard Lorna’s soaring voice.

She added so much to the tracks she’s on. “All I Know” would not be nearly as warm without her parts, “Sham Song” graduated from novelty to serious fun with her doo-doos and swooping harmonies, “Carnegie Hill” achieved the sweet tang of nostalgia I was reaching for, and most profoundly, the three-part harmonies she added to “Down to the Mountain” with her partners in crime, Sarah and Amyellen, took my breath away.
